Scooter rentals FAQ

Before setting off on your scooter after a long period of disuse, start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. This will allow the oil in the engine and transmission to reach the proper pressure and lubricate all the parts, making your ride safer and smoother.

In addition, always wear a helmet and any other recommended safety gear to protect yourself in the event of an accident. Follow traffic rules and drive defensively, anticipating potential hazards on the road.

We highly recommend using premium gasoline

The cost of the gas is not included in the rental fee of the scooter / moped. The vehicle will be given to you with a full tank of gas, and you are responsible for filling it up before returning it. A fee of 100 MXN will be added to your bill if the gas tank is not full when you bring it back.

You can rest assured that there are no hidden fees associated with renting a scooter/moped from us. However, it is important to note that you are responsible for any damages that occur to the scooter during the rental period. This includes lost keys, scratches, or any other damage that may occur. If the scooter is returned in a damaged state, the cost of repairs will be estimated by our official service center, and you will be responsible for covering those costs. Additionally, we do require that you return the scooter with a full tank of gas to avoid any additional charges.

In the unfortunate event of damage or theft to the scooter/moped, our insurance policy will cover the cost of the damage or theft, minus the deductible. However, please note that the cost of the franchise will be deducted from your deposit. If the damage occurs without an accident, you will be responsible for reimbursing the full cost of the repairs and any associated downtime of the scooter/moped.

To ensure accountability and fairness, we take photos and videos of the scooter/moped before it is rented to you. We encourage you to do the same. In the event that the scooter is damaged after being returned, we will review the pre-rental video to determine the condition of the scooter prior to your rental. This will help us to determine who is responsible for any damages.

If you experience a flat tire while renting a scooter, please do not continue riding as it can be dangerous. The extended insurance provided covers such issues, and you can retrieve the insurance information from the trunk of the scooter. Call the insurance agent for assistance, and they will provide further guidance on how to proceed. Alternatively, you can take the scooter to a tire shop to fix the flat tire at your own expense.

If you park the scooter/moped in a non-parking zone, it may result in the local authorities impounding or locking the wheel of the vehicle. The associated fine for such a violation is 600 MXN, and if the scooter is impounded, the cost of retrieving it can be up to 2000 MXN. We highly recommend avoiding such situations, as the process of retrieving an impounded vehicle can be time-consuming and frustrating. It’s best to look for designated parking areas, which are generally marked with blue lines or located outside of paid parking zones. You can also try to locate areas where other scooters are parked to get an idea of safe parking spaces.

The minimum age to rent a scooter is 18+

Wearing a helmet while riding a scooter or moped is mandatory as per Mexican law. It is important to prioritize your safety and the safety of your passenger by wearing a helmet at all times while riding. Failure to wear a helmet can result in a fine from the police, and more importantly, put your life at risk. So, please make sure to wear a helmet every time you take a ride on a scooter or moped.

Driving under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited by Mexican law, including when operating a scooter or moped. It is not only illegal but also highly dangerous to do so. Intoxication can impair your vision, reaction time, and judgment, putting both yourself and others at risk. If caught driving under the influence, you may face severe legal penalties, hefty fines, and even imprisonment. Additionally, driving while intoxicated can result in serious injury or death. It is always better to find a sober driver or alternate means of transportation if you plan on consuming alcohol.

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for early returns of scooters. When you rent a scooter, it is reserved specifically for you during the rental period, which means we cannot rent it out to anyone else during that time. Even if you return the scooter early, it cannot be rented out to another customer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

In case you return the scooter late without prior agreement, we will have to charge you an extra day’s rental fee. The rental period of our scooters is 24 hours, so even if you are a few hours late, it will still count as an extra day. Please be mindful of the rental period and return the scooter on time to avoid any additional charges.

If you do not return the scooter, it will be considered theft and we will have to take legal action. We will report the incident to the police and your details will be forwarded to the insurance company. We highly recommend that you return the scooter on time to avoid any legal consequences.

If you are stopped by the police while riding a rental scooter, it’s important to remain calm and cooperative. Make sure you have all necessary documents, such as your driver’s license and rental agreement, readily available to show to the police. If you have violated any traffic laws, you may be required to pay a fine. However, if you have not broken any rules, you should be allowed to continue on your way after the police have checked your documents. Remember to always obey traffic laws and ride safely to avoid any issues with the police.
